Crochet rainbow poncho

For this poncho, I choose beautiful yarn in rainbow colors with some sparkle. It will suit a little girl, maybe 3-5 years old.

Stitch key: ch – chain, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, st – stitch, slst – slip stitch

Materials: Red Heart –  Roll with it, sparkle, 5 mm crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Finished piece measurement:

From V opening down 17″, wide 23″,  neck opening 24″.

For the different sizes add multiple of 8ch.

The poncho is worked from the neck opening down.

Instructions: ch 80, slst in the first ch.

R1 – hdc in each ch, ( 80 hdc), ch 3 

R2 – 2 dc in the same stitch ( ch 3 counts as dc), ch1, skip 3ch, 3 dc in next st, ch2, 3 dc in the same st( corner), ch 1, skip 3 ch, *3 dc in same st, ch 1* repeat 8 more times ( 9 groups of 3 dc, ch1),- 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc- in the next st – second corner, ch1, skip ch 3, *3 dc in the next st, ch1*, repeat until the end of the round and finish with slst in the first st. 

R2 – make 2 slst to reach ch1 space, make 3 dc in ch1 space, ch 1, repeat until you reach the corner, then make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the corner ch 2 space, ch 1, *3 dc in the next ch 1 space, ch1*, repeat until the next corner, make 3 dc, ch2, 3 dc in the corner, *ch 1, 3 dc in the next ch1 space*, repeat until the end of the round, slst in the first st.

R3 – R 22 – repeat R2

Finishing – wave in all the remaining yarn. Cut some yarn the same length for the fringes. Attach the fringes in each ch 1 space at the bottom of your poncho.
