How to crochet Santa baby cocoon with the hood

This crochet cocoon for your baby is so sweet! It will be his first Christmas with you! 

The pattern is easy beginner friendly.

 

The cocoon is made from down up the the hood.

Material used:  acrylic yarn #4 medium, ( red and white) 5,5 mm crochet hook, scissors, yarn needle.

Stitches:  slst – slip stitch, mg – magic ring, ch – chain,  dc – double crochet

Crochet loop stitch :

Wrap the yarn from front to back over your finger, insert the hook in the stitch, grab the yarn behind your finger, pull the yarn through the stitch. ( the yarn on your finger will make the loop). The yarn is still on your finger, yarn over , pull through 2 loops on your hook.

R1 – 10 dc in the ring

R2 – 2 dc in each stitch ( 20 dc)

R3 – ch 3, 2 dc in one st, 1 dc, *2 dc, 1 dc* repeat ( 30 dc)

R4 – ch3, dc, 2dc, *dc, dc, 2 dc* repeat ( 40dc)

R5 – ch3, dc, dc, 2dc, *dc, dc, dc, 2dc* repeat ( 50 dc)

R6 – ch3, dc, dc, dc, 2dc, *dc, dc, dc, dc, 2dc* repeat ( 60dc)

R7 – R 28 – dc in each st, (60 dc) Turn when you start new round.

 

Hood:

R29 – ch3, dc ( 36 st)

R30 – R40 – dc ( 36st)

To finish the hood, cut the long tail of yarn. Turn the hood inside out and sew the upper part together to make the hood.  Then take the white yarn and make row of single crochet around the hood opening. In dc make 2 sc. For the next 2 rows make the loop stitch.
