Rose Whisper Poncho

As the days began longer and warmer it is time for us to take off the coats and wear some awesome ponchos!

For this lovely poncho, I used Caron cotton cakes and I can tell, I just love this yarn! It is soft and easy to crochet with. The piece looks great too and it is soft to wear.

Stitch key: ch – chain, st – stitch,  slst – slip stitch, sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, yo – yarn over, sk – skip

Special stitch:  cluster st with 2 dc – yo, insert hook in the st, yo, pull through the st, yo, pull through the 2 loops, yo, insert hook in another stitch , yo pull through st, yo pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through all loops.

Notes: make 2 same panels for the poncho.

Materials: Caron cotton cakes -Rose Whisper, 250g, 8,8 oz, 2 balls, 6,5 mm crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Gauge: 4″ x 4″ 13 st, 7 rows

Measurement of the  panel: 30″ x 16″

Measurement of the final piece: Neck opening – 28″, length from V down – 23″, Wide – 33″

Instructions

Ch 108

R1 – in second ch from hook make hdc, hdc in each ch – 107 hdc,  ch 3, turn.  Or make dc foundation chain of 107 st.

R2 – ch 3 count as first dc,*5 dc in next 5 st, skip 2 st, dc in the next, ch 3 dc in the same st, skip 2 st*, repeat, make 6 dc in 6 st, ch 3 turn

R3 – turning ch is first dc, 1 dc in next 2 st, cluster st ( sk 1 ch between 2 dc), ch 2, *5 dc in the ch3 space from previous r, ch 2, sk 1 st, cluster st( sk 3 ch between dc in cl. st),ch 2, sk 1 st*, repeat 10 times, cluster(sk 1 st between 2 dc), 3 dc in the next 3 st, ch 3 turn

R4 – ch 3 counts as first dc, 1 dc in next 3 st, Ch 1, dc in the same st, sk 2 ch, *1 dc in the next 5 st, sk 2 ch, dc in the cluster st from previous r, ch 3, dc in the same space, sk 2 ch*, repeat 10 times, dc in next st, ch 1, dc in same st, dc in next 3 st, ch 3, turn

R5 – ch 3 counts as first dc, 1 dc in the next 3 st, 2 dc in ch 1 space from previous row, *ch 2, sk 1 st, cluster in next st ( sk 3 st ) finish cluster in the next st, ch 2, 5 dc in the ch 3 space from previous row*, repeat 10 times, 2 dc in ch 2 space from previous row, dc in the next 4 st, ch 3 turn

R6 – R 28 – repeat row 2-5

 

R 29 – make hdc in each st whole row.

Make one more hdc in the last st, make evenly 52 hdc on the both short side of the panel. Make 2 same panels.

Finishing:

With the stitch marker mark 14″ on both panels for the neck opening.

Line up the shorter side of one panel with the longer side of the other panel and sew evenly leaving 14″ for neck opening. Then do the same on the other side.
